Double Scottish Preview 19th Sept Double Scottish Preview 19th Sept Double Scottish Preview 19th Sept
This Saturday night at Lochgelly Raceway see’s not 1, but 2 Scottish Championships on offer in another sold out event.

The 1300 Stock Cars will see 30 cars battle it out for honour of wearing the saltire for the next 12 months – Sean Naismith has hit form at the right time as he bids to defend the title he won around 12 months ago. However, a lot will depend on the draw as there is a lot of fast cars out there, in what will be a packed field of cars. Kyle Hegg and Andrew Mathieson have both shown they are more than capable of taking a win or two, however, both are also prone to getting into battles that often deters their progress. Fraser Clark is consistently smooth, quick, and knows how to navigate his way through a field of cars – a decent draw could see him right in the mix for the silverware come the chequered flag. Euan Mathieson has struggled since his return, but has picked up with each passing meeting and could be in with a shout with a little bit of luck on his side. Jamie Stewart had a nightmare of a meeting last time out, but will be hoping to have cured his issues as he looks to return to his August form!

The Stock Rods will see a reasonable field of cars battle it out for there respected Scottish Championship. 2 reverse grid heats will determine the grid for there main event. A lot of the drivers would rather have a midfield draw for the heats as it gives them the opportunity to score a good haul of points in both of the heats, however, there is also a higher risk of damage! Siobhan Martin has looked the quickest consistently of late, however, Dean McGill, Darren McAlpine and Chris Lattka have also shown the pace to be front runners since we returned racing. You can never rule out Gary Dean neither – the current holder of the title. Gary has been consistently in the places despite starting from the back of the grid over the last year. Stuart Hamilton has only recently returned to racing, but has picked up a few wins along the way and will be looking to challenge for the title. A highly competitive field of cars – Brett Sneddon, David Crichton Stewart Paterson, and if Gary Nicholls fill his car up, all may be in with a chance of silverware as well. Ian Low and Paul Wilson have both shown at times to have the speed to compete – they’ll both be looking for a clean race and a bit of luck on the day, and who knows!!

The Classic Hot Rods are in action in Scotland for what is sadly the first time in 2020 after a bit of a write off year for the formula. Gavin Taber and Daniel Buckley join the Scottish contingent of cars on track. Martin Balfour, Kenny Purdie and Jock Campbell will be looking to keep the wins to home based drivers though. Graeme Callendar makes a return to action in a car that he has only recently finished! The classic hot rods always produce a unique style of racing, and a joy to watch at any track.

The ProStocks are with us, though seem to be slightly down on numbers at the time of writing – it is hoped that this will pick up before the event. British Champion Darren Rae will be looking to build on his improved performance last time out, whilst Tam Melrose looks to be the driver to beat in the formula. A rare but welcome outing for the experienced John Mason at Lochgelly Raceway will see the 760 machine take to the track for the first time this season. Lee Kopacz will be hoping to have cured his misfire that dogged him last weekend.

The Junior Productions have an excellent 20 cars booked in to race, including 3 from Northern Ireland. Jack Morrow, Chelsey Rainey and Mathew Weir head over the Irish Sea to join us. The home based drivers have been encouraged by ever increasing driver numbers, and this weekend we see David Dignan joining us on track for the first time. Lewis Dickson and Declan Dixon continue to build there on track confidence alongside Callahan Bremner. Jensen Bell, John Bremner and Jack Beresford have all been in the mix for the trophy spaces in recent times, and this trio will be looking to take the fight to Harvey Sneddon and Jas Walle.

First race, 5.30pm!
