Saturday 31st October
We are back at Lochgelly Raceway for another night of action, where pink will be the colour of choice in the Michelle Freck Memorial Event!

The 1300 Stock Cars battle it out for the Michelle Freck Memorial race, and will see another closed grid final take place. Last weekend the bumpers were flying in throughout the night which provided an excellent evening of racing – much of the same is expected this weekend. Fraser Clark reigned victorious in this event last year, and having recently claimed the Scottish Championship and winning the Mr Gunn race last weekend, will be full of confidence going into the night. However, an ongoing battle with Dougie Ford may see him caught up in the action which may dampen his chances of yet another victory. Sean Naismith, a driver who has been in electric form throughout the season will be hoping to take the win, and add to his National Points Championship for the 2020 season. Patrick Calderwood showed some excellent pace from yellow grade last week in the ex James Ellis car, and with a bit of good fortune on his side, will be right in the mix for the honours! With a little extra sponsorship being put up by C Splatt, the 1300 Stock Cars will be out in force once again…One thing that is certain though, is that these drivers will go out and put on a show for Michelle and her family!

The Superstox, will also be out in action after a few weeks on the sidelines! The open class formula has provided some good racing over the course of the season, despite lower car numbers than hoped for – the national points championship went right to the wire with an excellent battle amongst Barry Stephen and Bryan Forrest. Dean Johnston has shown he is one of the top drivers out there when it comes to wet conditions, where he seems to excel. Had it not been for a coming together with a back marker in the Scottish Championship, Dean would have been up there battling for the lead / podium places. The Superstox will be racing for the Tom Michie Memorial trophy on Saturday night – an event that was due to take place earlier in the season but was cancelled due to lockdown measures. Barry, Bryan and Dean are certain to put on a great show of racing tomorrow night, though if they are not careful, they may struggle to catch some of the quicker drivers starting ahead of them – Lee and Evan Clark have both shown an upturn of pace lately, whilst Mark Dews also makes a return to racing having missed the last couple of meetings due to work commitments. Mark Brady has looked quick of late and will be in with a chance of victory, although, not currently booked in. It is set to be the final running of the Tom Michie Memorial, so there is an extra incentive for the drivers to go out, and put on a show!!

The CC Rods will see what is a near record number of cars take to the track, with currently 24 cars booked to race for the Scottish Championship – 2 reverse grid heats will determine the grid for the main race on the night. Craig Watson won the title in 2019, and has had a torrid time of it in 2020, though showed glimmers of pace last weekend, he will be hoping for a good draw in the heats to be in with a chance of retaining the title for another year. The CC Rods have provided some excellent racing this year, with numbers increasing as the season has gone on. A very evenly matched pack of cars will provide some super racing – here is hoping that the drivers keep it clean and race with sense on Saturday night, in what looks set to be wet conditions! We wouldn’t want to see anyone penalised for contact and losing a championship over it!! It is more than just the Scottish though, the battle for the track championship is ongoing, with 5-6 drivers still in with a chance of taking that title!!

The National Micro Bangers will be racing as well, in there own Michelle Freck Memorial race – a reasonable field of cars are expected with around 20 Micro Bangers set to put on a show! Callum Campbell will be looking to take the glory having shown he has the pace to mix it with some of the top drivers a few weeks ago at the Micro Bangers World Cup event. Steven Bolton and Leonard Dunn are expected to join us, whilst there is set to be a decent amount of ontrack action!!

The National Hot Rods are the 5th and final formula in action. Although numbers aren’t where any of us would like, it was contemplated removing the formula from the line up – however, with a number of Scottish Series drivers looking to participate, we feel that it is only fair to give them the opportunity to do so. World Champion Robert McDonald will also join us as he looks to support the Scottish scene as much as he possibly can. James Mooney, Ian Donaldson and Ross McWilliam will all be out on track, whilst Alan Ross is hoping to make a return to racing as well.
